First Day of Second Grade

How do we have a second grader??? I could go on and on about that but on Wednesday, September 5th Ella started school in her brand new elementary school. It is absolutely beautiful and perfect from door to door. The rooms are huge, the desks are new, the lighting is natural, the library is comfortable...yes, we love it! But because of the new building under construction, the start of school was pushed back over 2 weeks. So when school started, we were all ready!

Our neighbor hosted a neighborhood breakfast. We all chipped in and brought food for the kids. It was a great morning!

Matthew figured this was all for him :)

Laney & Willow
Laney started kindergarten the next day (Thursday). The Kindergarten class was divided in 3rds with a third starting Wednesday, third starting Thursday and a third starting Friday. Since Kindergarten is all day this was a great transition.

After a yummy breakfast, we were off to school.

Ella and her good friend, Emma.
The walk through of the building was the night before and we saw that Emma and Ella were sitting next to each other. At first, Ella was excited but then she got worried. She said she was worried about chit chatting too much with Emma :)

We were all excited for the first day.
It was SO foggy that you can't see the new building in the background but it is huge.
We have such a small district that it is amazing to see such a big school!

Laney and Madeline were helping to drop their siblings off.

What a great group of 2nd grade girls!

Emma, Ella, Marin and Lilly

The kids paraded into school by class...here is Mrs. Gulbin's second grade class marching in.
We just found out we are getting new neighbors in a few months and the girl behind Ella (with the plaid backpack) is Laney (yes, her name is Laney...too funny) and the girls hit it off. We are so excited to have them move in (although we surely miss our current neighbors too!!!).

Ella said her favorite thing about Day 1 was lunch and art. She said she had the best day...always love hearing that!!
