As Matthew's birthday was approaching (ok, the week before) I decided I should probably think about his birthday. In true Leslie fashion although I originally wanted it low key (pizza and cake), it became a full fledged party.
I asked Matthew what type of party he wanted. I threw out a water party and he said, "yes." Then a few minutes later I asked him what type of party he wanted and he said, "A bad guy water party." Hmmmmm...where do you go with that?
Well, we took that theme and ran with it. We had the kids wear their swim suits and hone their super hero skills. We set up 5 stations for the kids to rotate through. Jason and I had so much fun planning Matthew's party. We have never thrown a boy birthday so it was great to be away from pink for the day.
Laney and Willow colored the super hero symbols, cut them out and then glued them on.
It was a great group effort!
Thanks to pintrest, I was able to feel creative.
I made the buildings out of aluminum foil and since we didn't have yellow and black paper, Laney and Willow painted paper for me and we cut to make windows. Laney, Willow, Ella and Jill all helped with gluing, making the moon, coloring the bad guys used during the games and check out spider man on the building. Yes, we had fun!
We found a boxed cookie on sticks kit in my cupboard (who knew?) and we thought it would be fun to make cookies for the kids. "Superheroes Unite" OR in our case "SPERHEROES UNITE." lol. Nothing says homemade like a fallen cookie.

Your Mission: Chisel Challenge
I put some small toys and food coloring in a large dish and froze it.
The kids used plastic screwdrivers, saws, and hammers to get to the toys.
Emma had so much fun she broke the hammer! Love it!

Web Spider man
Now, Jason made sure I knew that you would not really use web power
on spider man (nor is spider man a bad guy although you could argue he went bad at one point...and I only knew that because the guy at Walmart told me)
but just go with me here, ok?
I bought a spider man poster and silly string for this station. The kids had a blast!

These are the couples we see probably the most.
Jody and Mike Duckwall (we went to HS with both of them and although we didn't run in the same crowd then, we sure love them back in our lives!)
Jack and April Gatlin: They have 4 kids (look at cute 3 month old Reese in April's arms) and there other 3 kids are the same age as our 3....so April and I see each other quite often with carpooling :)

I saw a cake on pintrest I was going to make; the background was blue and she made a big S in superman colors out of M & Ms. Loved it! Plus it looked like I could do it :)
But we were at sams the day before his party and I saw this cake in the cake book. Ok, done!
It was so stinkin' cute and the kids loved the rings and mask.
